CANCER
Cancer also known as malignant tumour, is known generally as a painful, wasting away illness. It is a group of diseases Involving abnormal growth of cells. These cells are called cancerous cells. Cancerous cells have the ability to spread to other unaffected parts of the body. There are over 100 types of cancers that affects the human body.
RISK FACTORS
Risk factors are things that Increases the chances of someone getting a disease.
Cancer has many risk factors which makes it a hard disease to guard against. They are:
SMOKING: The Use of Tobacco, Hemp, Cigarettes e.t.c could raise ones chances of getting cancer. Smoking should be reduced to a bare minimum.
ALCOHOL: Excessive Intake of alcohol could increase the risk of getting cancer. Drink alcohol sparingly.
OBESITY , LACK OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES & POOR DIETS .
EXPOSURE TO I-RADIATION {IONIZING RADIATION}
INHERITED GENETIC DEFECTS
Certain Infections such as HEPATITIS B, HEPATITIS C and HIV{Human immunodeficiency virus} could also raise the chances of getting cancer.
The chances of survival depends on the extent of disease and the type of cancer.
SYMPTOMS OF CANCER.
1. Inexplicable Weight loss
2. Abnormal bowel movement.
3. Fatigue.
4. Lump
5. Abnormal Bleeding
6. Prolonged cough.
TREATMENT
Cancer can be treated by :
1. Chemotherapy.
2. Radiation therapy : Induces destruction of cancerous cells.
3. Targeted therapy
4. Surgery.
PRECAUTIONS
There are precautions to be taken which could be taken to reduce the risk of getting cancer. The are:
EARLY DETECTION: Early detection is one of the best way to sabotage the disease (Not all cases).
Limiting exposure of the body to direct Sunlight (because the sun contains Ultra violet Ray's that affects the skin)
Limiting intake of red meat and processed meat.
Increasing the consumption of fruits, veggies and whole grains.
Reducing the intake of Alcohol, Tobacco, Hemp & Cigarettes and stoping all activities that involves Intake of smoke whether directly or indirectly.
