                     ULCER
Ulcer is a break in the bodily membrane that stops the normal function of the affected organ. 

         FORMS OF ULCERS
There are many forms of Ulcers that affects the human body.
Upon hearing the word 'ULCER' some think that ulcer affects the stomach only, which is not true. The common Clinically identified Ulcers include:

1. PEPTIC ULCER
2. MOUTH ULCER
3. VENOUS ULCER
4. APHTHOUS ULCER
5. CORNEAL ULCER
       There are also some other forms of Ulcers classified as Skin Ulcers, which includes: Genital ulcer, Anal fissures, Diabetic foot Ulcer e.t.c.

             PEPTIC ULCER
Peptic Ulcers or PUD (peptic ulcer disease) is a break in the lining of the insides of the Stomach, Small intestine, and sometimes the lower part of the Oesophagus.
Peptic Ulcers include: 
     Gastric Ulcer and Duodenal Ulcer.
Gastric Ulcer : This occurs on the insides of the stomach.
Duodenal Ulcer: This occurs on the insides of the upper part of the small intestine (Duodenum).


     SYMPTOMS OF PEPTIC ULCER .
The common Symptoms of peptic Ulcers are:
1. Burning Stomach or Abdominal pain
3. Nausea
4. Bloating of tummy
5. Apathy towards fatty foods

Other Symptoms may include:
Appetite change, Dark stool, Inexplicable Weight loss, Trouble breathing, blood stains in Vomit. e.t.c.
  Burning Stomach pain is the most common symptom of peptic Ulcer. There are digestive enzymes and acids that aids digestion in the human stomach. The stomach acids has a pH of 2 . Stomach acids increases the pain. The pain can be reduced by eating foods that acts as buffers against the stomach acids.
   In Chemistry, Buffers are solution of weak acids and conjugate bases which when added to acids or bases,  resist a pH change.
   Biological buffers are organic substances that maintain a constant pH by neutralizing the effects of the acids (hydrogen ions).
